There was a time when social network networking was a very lonely place to do business.

You did not get to interact with other workers to build relationships. And unlike a Store Front, no one walks into the door to strike up a conversation with you.

Then Social Networking communities like Facebook, MySpace, Bebo and others, took off with a bang, recruiting millions of happy campers.

It would not be long before some smart Netpreneurs realize there was an opportunity to use social networking platforms to build business networking sites.

These business-social Networking communities gave their members an opportunity to build Relationships while they show off their programs and opportunities by promoting to each other. It would not be long before hundreds of these sites were filled with thousands of New Members marketing to each other.

In order to make these sites “sticky” they had to enable a lot of cool stuff like glitter graphics, videos, multiple groups, and popularity contests to keep members on their sites. Some even offer to share the advertising wealth by allowing members to collect pennies on posts, visits or clicks.

This, of course, created some conflict of interests between Online Network Marketers and members who just want to meet new people and have fun.

(1) Most members were spending far too much time keeping up with social discussions and not much web marketing.

(2) Those who try to promote their opportunities to community members soon found out that most members would not welcome being promoted to, even if they have the opportunity to promote to them back.

(3) Members also soon found they had no real access to reach the thousands of people on their friends’ or extended lists for any real web site promotion.

This is a complex problem for the serious Online Marketers. Should you concentrate on “Real Web Promotion” like doing article submissions to article sites to get actual visitors; or the “time-consuming activities” that just put you “up front and center” on the community site leader boards?

Although some communities provide email access to all the people on their
friends’ lists or Down lines – the lists are so un-targeted with the same members on each other lists that most attempt to send email messages only result in spam complaints.
