What (if anything) would you do differently if you knew that your home-based business could not fail? What risks would you take? What journeys would you embark on? How would knowing that you could not possibly fail affect your home-based business? Take a few moments to let this question seep in and see what answers come to you.
Having pictured your ideal life or home-based business, my next question is: What’s stopping you? Why aren’t you achieving the results you want? Where are the obstacles on your road to success?
The answer is that each of us is conditioned to expect a certain amount of success. We carry built-in limits that specify how materially wealthy we can be, how much happiness is enough, and the extent to which we can follow our dreams. Exceed those limits and a correction takes place. Imagine a thermostat set to 70 degrees. On a hot day, the temperature in the building rises to 71. Sensing the heat, the thermostat kicks in to cool things down. On a cold day, the thermostat comes on to heat the building when the temperature drops to 69 degrees. The thermostat is therefore “hunting”, or moving up and down while maintaining the average temperature.
You’ve probably experienced times of great business and personal success. You’ve also experienced periods where it seemed like nothing could possibly go your way. Average these two out and you’ll probably arrive at an amazingly level average. That average is your comfort zone. Think about that comfort zone and how faithfully you’ve stuck by it and you’ll realize that you haven’t failed at all. In fact, you’ve been a perfect success! This is great news! You received programming for a given level of success and have done a stellar job of maintaining that level.
The fact that you’ve followed your current program 100% successfully in your life or home-based business means that you can achieve any level of success you want. That’s right: All of your trials, tribulations, and hardships mean that you can have anything you want. After all, a computer that runs a word processor perfectly can also run a spreadsheet! The program may be flawed, which could cause crashes and other problems, but the computer is executing that program faithfully, right down to the errors because it can’t distinguish between good and bad programming. I for one would be more than a little scared of a computer that didn’t follow its programming, even if that deviation meant avoiding an error.
If the programming is flawed or limited, then fixing or changing the program will solve the problem. The same analogy holds true for you. If you don’t like the life or home-based business you have, then all you need to do is change how you define success and everything else will change accordingly. Changing a definition is easy- and therein lies the problem, for this change literally is unbelievably easy. The inability to believe just how simple this change is means that actually doing it often requires months or even years.
There are 3 simple steps you can take to change your programming:
First, realize that YOU alone are responsible for your life and home-based business. You alone have the “ability to respond” to anything that happens to you. That makes you powerful and you must own that power.
Second, define exactly what you want materially, emotionally, and spiritually. The only way to get where you’re going is to know where that is.
Third, realize that you have succeeded at everything in your life that you have been committed to… which means everything you have actually done, not everything you may have been interested in. If you don’t like your current commitments, change them! You will fulfill these new commitments just as successfully as your old ones.
Your life and home-based business would not change one bit if you were guaranteed 100% success because you’re already 100% successful right where you are. The moment you commit to the success you are interested in, you’ll start receiving it. The only problems are when your interest and commitment are mismatched. Match your interest (what you want) with your commitment (what you actually do) and your success is absolutely guaranteed.
